Meet Dorsey Ross, our Evangelist for the 10:30 AM service here at Gospel Tabernacle.
Dorsey grew up unlike other normal children, he was born on January 16th 1977, with a birth defect called Aperts Syndrome. When he was born his forehead was pushed outward, his eyes and nose where pushed back into his head, and his fingers and toes where fused together. Meaning he had no individual movement of them. He had no soft spot in his skull. Because the bones in his skull were already fused together, there was none of the natural room needed for his brain to grow.
The doctors explained to his parent’s that because of this condition, it would halt his brain development. The doctors advised his parents that the best option for them would be to sign away rights, and put him into an institution. Long story short 68 operations later Dorsey is still here, despite all the times his parents were told he wouldn’t make it.
Growing up, and because of his limitations Dorsey would wonder what plan and purpose did God have for him, how was God going to use him. Like everyone else he had his dreams and visions of what he wanted to do in life. One of the dreams he and his family had for him was to finish College.
Doctors told his parents he would be brain dead at birth and a high school history teacher said he would not make it in college; however, he never gave up. Despite the predictions that he would not make it in college, on May 5, 2005, Dorsey crossed the stage to receive his BA in Youth Ministry, from VFCC.
In the summer of 2006 he felt the calling of God on his life to start a ministry, and to travel wherever God leads him. Dorsey gives an uplifting and encouraging message, that with God all things are possible. His life verse is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future’ ” (NIV).
Dorsey Ross is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. Dorsey has had to undergo 68 operations. He would like for all those that visit this site to know that God has a plan and a purpose for your life, and as you leave to realize that with God all things are possible. (Matthew, 19:26)
