The new year serves as an opportunity for a number of considerations: Reflections about last year; resolutions for the new year; etc. Such exercises are fine and can be helpful in seking to make our lives better. One thing that is a vital element in making our lives better is VISION.
Proverbs 29:18 says, “Without a vision the people perish; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” (KJV) The word vision can be translated “revelation, dream, understanding, prophetic revelation”. The word perish means “cast off restraint, get wild, to loose.” In other words where there is no revealing of God’s Word, His will, His plans and purposes, people will live without restraint, get loose with their way of living. When a person’s life doesn’t have vision, any ol’ thing will do to bring about satisfaction and happiness. The ultimate end to that kind of life is one of unhappiness, regret, and defeat. That friends, is not what God is about nor is it what He sent His Son do die for.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV) That verse from the heart and mind of God is full of vision! For anyone who will dare believe it and live by it, better and brighter days await them. Are you one of those people?
