A case of mistaken identity

Last year at about 10PM on a mild spring evening while my daughter and her family were living with us, we noticed flashing lights outside. Being nosey – and since the gas station across the street has been robbed several times since we’ve lived here, we peeped out the windows through the blinds to find several officers cautiously approaching our house. As we watched, some of them eased around the corner toward the back of the house.

My first thought was that they were chasing a robbery suspect…..  Of course our dog Oreo was barking like a crazed animal and almost foaming at the mouth to get loose and bite someone.

My son-in-law Josh, who is also a pastor ( who looks and sounds like he could belong to the Mafia LOL!) answered their knock on the back door to find several guns pointed toward him! :gang: :swoon:

They questioned him for several minutes while we all stood around the corner in the kitchen, jockeying for the best place to listen in on what was going on. As the conversation progressed, they realized they were at the WRONG ADDRESS! So they asked Josh if he knew where it was, DUH!

In their defense, I must say, they were state troopers who patrol a large area and probably are not familiar with all the little roads in our small town. None of us really knew where that road was either, but we thought it might be  up in the trailer park on the other side of the road.

Well, they never apologized for the scare they gave us, but got in their cars and soon we saw the flashing lights across the road …. Hope they got it right that time. LOL! :aussie:

Thankfully, God never gets the wrong address or the wrong ID. He knows who we are – the thoughts and intents of our hearts. He knows the hurts we carry as well as the hurts we have inflicted on others. And yet He still loves us. He will work with us until we are ready to admit our faults and failures so He can heal us and help us grow.

Thanks Lord for knowing who I am, where I live and exactly what I need today to thrive in your world! Amen.
