Those seeds that fell on good ground are the people who listen to the message and keep it in good and honest hearts. They last and produce a harvest. Luke 8:15 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
When he lived with us two summers ago, he helped plant his favorite beans. Every day he went to the garden to check on them. I tried letting him weed the bean patch, but he was a bit young to understand the difference between weeds and beans. LOL!
When the time came to harvest the beans, he sat on the porch with me as I snipped the ends off the beans, fascinated by the mound of beans on the table that came from the garden. “That’s a lot of beans, Grammy!”
The bean seeds were planted in good ground with just the right nutrients to grow and produce a good harvest – even from my three small rows. They fed us through the summer with enough left to can a good supply for winter. Of course Sam wanted to help with the canning! Oh how wonderful they looked standing in rows on my basement shelves.
Father, work the soil of my heart so that your word may grow and prosper there as my life produces fruit for you. Amen.
