“The commandments, Don’t commit adultery, don’t murder, don’t steal, don’t desire what others have, and any other commandments, are all summed up in one word: You must love your neighbor as yourself. Love doesn’t do anything wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is what fulfills the Law.” Romans 13:9-10 CEB
This verse is not necessarily about “loving ourselves.” It’s more of a challenge to see ourselves through God’s eyes – as beloved creations of God’s own heart. He made us, therefore we have worth and value to Him.
If we think of ourselves this way, we will treat ourselves differently – with more care, love and concern. We will be more responsible to pass that same care on to others – seeing them as lovable, valuable creations of our heavenly Father and treating them with the respect and love that they deserve.
Father correct my vision of who I am in You so that I may fully care for others around me. Amen
