What’s your story?

“Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.”        1 Peter 3:15 NLT

What is the first thing you think of when  you hear the word camping?

Many of us will picture sitting around a campfire toasting marshmallows and singing songs or telling stories. In that relaxed atmosphere, it’s easy to tell stories, but can we share our testimonies of what Jesus has done in our lives just as easily as that ghost story?

The truth is, we don’t have to be nervous about sharing our personal faith stories. With a little advance preparation, we should be ready for any spur-of-the-momennt opportunity to share our faith.

– Write down a sentence or two  about the life-crisis you were going through before you came to know Jesus.

– Draw a little time line of events leading up to your conversion. Only include the most important ones. After all, people’s attention spans can be short so keep it brief.

– Write down what happened when Christ came into your life

– What has changed since you asked Christ to be part of your life.

Once you have this simple outline completed, practice telling the story so  flows smoothly and review it periodically so it stays fresh in your mind. And lastly, pray that God will help you share it when the opportunities arise.

Lord, thank you for what you’ve done in my life! Help me to tell others about it. Amen.
